    In U.S. residing ethnic groups, what is the group mean resting metabolic rate (RMR) estimation error compared to measured RMR when using WHO/FAO/UNU formula?
    • Conclusion

      The two WHO/FAO/UNU equations (one based on weight only and one based on weight and height) overestimates group mean RMR by approximately 9% in normal weight U.S.-residing, middle-aged, Asian women and 3-9% in older adult non-obese and obese, Caucasian women.

      It is unclear if this equation can be reliably-applied to U.S.-residing ethnic groups of African Americans, Asian and Pacific Islanders, American Indians, Alaskan Natives and Hispanic populations because of minimal or no representation.
