Inclusion Criteria:
Iraqi children; newly diagnosed T1DM (not more than 1 year duration of disease); age 4-12 years old.
Exclusion Criteria:
T2DM; T1DM with history of autoimmune or chronic inflammatory disease; CRF or hepatic disease; diabetic complications; uncontrolled diabetes; any type of cancer; taking chemotherapy or any other drugs.
Research Purpose:
To evaluate the possible correlation between serum vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) levels with serum fasting blood glucose, serum HbA1c, serum insulin levels, serum C-peptide levels related to newly diagnosed pediatric patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus.
