Welcome to the Medical Nutrition Therapy Effectiveness Systematic Review. This important project, completed in 2015, highlights the effectiveness of the registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) in the following areas:

  • RDN in Medical Team
  • Special Needs
  • Weight Management
  • Disorders of Lipid Metabolism
  • Gastrointestinal Disorders

 Key findings of this review include: 

  • Strong evidence to support the effectiveness of nutrition interventions and counseling provided by a nutrition professional when part of a healthcare team.
  • Strong evidence to support the effectiveness of MNT provided by a nutrition professional on health outcomes in overweight and obese adult.
  • Strong evidence to support the effectiveness of MNT provided by an RDN to improve disorders of lipid metabolism outcomes.
