WC: Energy Needs (2011)
The National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) and the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP) recently published evidence-based guidelines. Their methods met both Academy and AGREE (Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation) criteria. The Academy Wound Care Expert Workgroup decided to formulate nutrition practice questions that were not addressed by the NPUAP-EPUAP Nutrition Guidelines for pressure ulcers.
Energy Needs and Wound Care
The Academy Wound Care Expert Workgroup concurs with the findings of the NPUAP-EPUAP guidelines relative to energy needs to promote healing in individuals with pressure ulcers.
