Intervention
What is the effect of the Mediterranean dietary pattern on CRP levels in adults with CKD 2?
-
Conclusion
Mediterranean dietary pattern had no clear effect on CRP at 90 days post intervention in adults with CKD Stage 2.

Grade: III
- Grade I means there is Good/Strong evidence supporting the statement;
- Grade II is Fair;
- Grade III is Limited/Weak;
- Grade IV is Expert Opinion Only;
- Grade V is Not Assignable.
- High (A) means we are very confident that the true effect lies close to that of the estimate of the effect;
- Moderate (B) means we are moderately confident in the effect estimate;
- Low (C) means our confidence in the effect estimate is limited;
- Very Low (D) means we have very little confidence in the effect estimate.
- Ungraded means a grade is not assignable.

What is the effect of the Mediterranean dietary pattern on albuminuria in adults with CKD2-3?-
Conclusion
Mediterranean dietary pattern was associated with a significant reduction in albuminuria compared to low protein dietary group in adults with CKD Stages 2-3 based on limited evidence. Additional research on effect of Mediterranean dietary pattern intake is needed.

What is the effect of the Mediterranean dietary pattern on blood pressure in adults with CKD post-transplant?-
Conclusion
Mediterranean dietary pattern had an unclear effect on blood pressure in post-transplant patients based on one study. Additional research on effect of Mediterranean dietary pattern intake is needed.

What is the effect of the Mediterranean dietary pattern on lipid profile in adults with CKD 1-5D and post-transplant?-
Conclusion
Mediterranean dietary pattern was associated with a significant reduction in total cholesterol compared to standard care in adults with CKD Stage 2 and post-transplant patients. However, there was marked heterogeneity in treatment effects between the three studies. One randomized controlled trial in a non-dialyzed CKD sample and one randomized controlled trial in a post-transplant sample indicated that Mediterranean dietary pattern was associated with a significant reduction in LDL-C compared to standard care or low fat diet. Mediterranean dietary pattern had a lowering effect on triglyceride values in Stage 2 CKD patients and transplant patients based on a limited evidence. Additional research on effect of Mediterranean dietary pattern intake is needed.
