Adult Weight Management Interventions: A Scoping Review
The objective of the AWM scoping review is to identify and characterize studies examining weight management interventions among adults with overweight or obesity. Understanding the landscape of adult weight management interventions literature could help to inform the need/scope and the development of future systematic reviews and evidence based practice guidelines in this area.
Research Question: Among adults with overweight or obesity, what is the availability of literature examining weight management interventions provided by a registered dietitian nutritionist (or international equivalent) to improve nutrition-related outcomes?
Search Plan
Target Population: Adults (18 years and older)
Intervention: Studies examining the effects of weight management interventions provided by a registered dietitian nutritionist (or international equivalent)
Outcomes: Any nutrition-related health outcomes
Location: Outpatient or ambulatory care
Search Dates: January 1, 2008 - April 26, 2019
Study Designs: Randomized controlled trials, clinical controlled studies, cohort studies, systematic reviews or meta-analysis of randomized controlled clinical trials or cohort studies. Additionally, the search included any guidelines, census statements, recommendations, clinical updates, and technical reports.
Databases: Cochrane CENTRAL (Ovid), Cochrane Database for Systematic Reviews (Ovid), CINAHL (EBSCO), Embase (Ovid), Medline (Ovid), and PsycINFO (Ovid)
