Inclusion Criteria:
Obese (BMI>30 kg/m2); COPD, defined as post bronchodilator FEV1<80% predicted and FER < 0.70
Exclusion Criteria:
medical conditions requiring specialised dietary plans; on insulin; change in weight (±5% body weight; BW) in the past three months; presence of orthopaedic problems that may compromise exercise performance; occurrence of an upper or lower respiratory tract infection in the past month; the presence of an unstable cardiac condition; chronic heart failure; other chronic inflammatory condition that might compromise participation.
Research Purpose:
This sub-study aimed to evaluate our previous weight loss intervention in people with obesity and COPD by (a) examining changes in dietary intake and nutritional biomarkers and (b) examining the clinical, demographic and biochemical predictors of weight loss.
