Inclusion Criteria:
Adults of any sex and race/ethnicity were eligible if they (1) had a body mass index (BMI; calculated as weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared) of 30 or greater (27 for Asian adults), (2) had depressive symptoms defined by a 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) score of 10 or greater,16,17 and (3) did not have any serious comorbidities or meet any other exclusion criteria (eg, pregnancy, inability to speak or read English, and plan to relocate).
Exclusion Criteria:
Those with significant medical (e.g., type 2 diabetes mellitus or cardiovascular disease) or psychiatric comorbidities (e.g., psychotic or bipolar disorders) or special lifestyle circumstances
Research Purpose:
To test the hypothesis that an integrated collaborative care intervention would significantly improve both obesity and depression at 12 months compared with usual care.
