Exclusion Criteria:
Participants who were physician-ordered to restrict protein intake due to liver failure or severe renal failure, unable to walk unassisted, and unable to communicate with researchers due to cognitive defects were excluded.
Research Purpose:
Sought to determine whether social network intervention combined with protein supplementation is an effective strategy to prevent functional decline among community-dwelling frail older adults.
Blinding efforts:
Information as to whether a subject was assigned to the first/third group or second group was opened to the study participants and interventionists. How-ever, due to use of a placebo, subjects and interventionists were not informed of which subjects were assigned to the first or third group.
Study Location:
Community residents in Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea.
