Age 30 to 75 years; BMI >25 kg/m2; HbA1c < 11%; sedentary (<1 hour of physical activity per week); no evidence of participation in weight-reduction programs; stable weight (
Exclusion Criteria:
Pregnancy or breastfeeding; use of any investigational drug in the previous 3 months; Use of agents affecting glycemic control (such as systemic glucocorticoids and weight-loss drugs); any condition that might compromise adherence to diet regimens; positive antibodies to glutamate decarboxylase; C-peptide levels 1.4 mg/dL).
Research Purpose:
To assess the long-term results of dietary interventions and also to determine their association with frequency of partial and complete remission of type 2 diabetes.
