Inclusion Criteria:
The inclusion criteria were as follows: 1) the participants who had not taken antihypertensive medication had systolic blood pressure (SBP) of 120-159 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure (DBP) of 80-99 mmHg; 2) the participants who had taken 1 or 2 antihypertensive medications had SBP of 140-159 mmHg or DBP of 90-99 mmHg.
Exclusion Criteria:
Major exclusion criteria were use of 3 or more antihypertensive medications; body mass index (BMI) less than 18.5 kg/m2 or greater than 45 kg/m2; evidence of target organ damage such as left ventricular hypertrophy, angina, heart failure, stroke, chronic kidney disease, peripheral artery disease, or retinopathy; cancer; or regular alcohol consumption exceeding 14 servings per week; pregnant women or women of child-bearing age who tested positive for human chorionic gonadotropin; breastfeeding women; individuals who could not read the consent; and individuals who had participated in another study within 3 months.
Research Purpose:
This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a home-based lifestyle modification intervention on blood pressure (BP) management.
