Inclusion Criteria:
Hypertensive with good pharmalogic blood pressure control (below 160/95 mmHg). Aged 30-65 years of age.
Exclusion Criteria:
Secondary hypertension, renal failure, ischemic heart or brain disease, any illness requiring adherence to a strict dietary regimen, if they used oral contraceptives, or if they had poor compliance with their prescribed drug regimen.
Research Purpose:
To determine whether an increase in dietary potassium intake from natural foods reduces the need for antihypertensive medication in patients with essential hypertension.
