Research Purpose:
The aim of this study was to compare the effects of each diet on the primary outcomes of change in body weight and lipids across the 2-year study, with the primary outcomes examined at 12 months and maintenance examined at 24 months.
Blinding efforts:
Once all baseline data were collected, a blinded study coordinator assigned participants to the next number in the block. Participants did not learn of their randomized assignment until they attended their first group meeting.
