Inclusion Criteria:
All patients with a histologically proven diagnosis of primary oesophageal or stomach cancer, who were to undergo surgery and/or chemotherapy at Monash Health and aged 18 years and over, were eligible for inclusion.
Exclusion Criteria:
Patients diagnosed with recurrent disease or with physical, cognitive, language or emotional problems that would prevent participation or those whose treatment was planned at another health care facility were excluded from participation.
Research Purpose:
This study aimed to test whether a very early nutrition intervention delivered over the telephone was feasible and could improve outcomes amongst patients with upper gastrointestinal cancer.
