Inclusion Criteria:
General adult population >/= 18 years old; plant-based eating style: vegetarian, vegan, semi-, lacto-, lacto-ovo-, pesco-veteran; all-cause mortality, CVD mortality; studies that reported adjusted estimates for relative risk, risk ratio, hazard ratio and 95% confidence internal as effect size.
Exclusion Criteria:
Retrospective studies; cross-sectional studies; studies that used individual plant-based food groups; not published in English; not conducted in general population; abstracts; letters; reviews; unpublished data
Research Purpose:
To conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies on the association of a plant-based eating style with the risk of all-cause and cause-specfic mortality in the general population.
