Indirect calorimetry is the standard for determination of RMR in critically ill patients. When indirect calorimetry cannot be performed, predictive formulas may be necessary.

For more information on individual predictive equations in critically ill adults, see Individual Equations.

For more information on all predictive equations used in critically ill adults, see Predictive Equation Formulas.
