Inclusion Criteria:
Acute myeloid leukemia, scheduled to receive myelosuppressive chemotherapy or had begun chemotherapy not more than 3 d before inclusion into the study
Exclusion Criteria:
Sepsis, infection with HIV, pregnancy, severe liver or renal failure, or a known inborn error of amino acid metabolism
Research Purpose:
The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical and immunologic effects of parenteral glutamine supplementation in patients with acute leukemia.
Blinding efforts:
TPN preparations were compounded in the hospital pharmacy by a pharmacist not involved in patient care; TPN bags were labeled without indication of their glutamine content
