Inclusion Criteria:
Middle-aged men (40 to 56 years of age) with never-treated, uncomplicated mild-to-moderate essential hypertension. They had sitting (5 min) diastolic blood pressure above 90 mm Hg at the initial screening and before the present study, and supine diastolic blood pressure ranging from 94 to 108 mm Hg on two separate occasions 1 to 2 weeks apart.

Research Purpose:
To determine if a low sodium-based diet implemented by a nutritionist could lower blood pressure and affect sympathetic activity.
